Day 13: Jesse Royston to paint our songs

Jesse Royston, our longtime ER designer, is undertaking a new project. She is exploring the connection between the visual world and the aural world in a series of paintings she is currently making.

(not part of the new project)

What really does it for us is that she's using Elizabethan Report songs as her inspiration. Each painting in the series will have been painted for an ER song. Her work is called: Translations in Visual Language: Exploring the Connectivity of Sensory Elements and Emotions.

Tony and I were invited to visit her studio recently to see what was cooking. We saw a number of works, all from various stages of her process. It was cool to see the creative process for a visual artist. Tony was impressed, and he tends to be the most artistically critical member of the band.

Sometime this fall, you'll be able to see her work. For now, you can wander over here to see what she has to say about it.
