Last Utah show for awhile

The Utah Arts Festival show was so PUMPING, thanks to all of you who made it.

Thanks to Jim Berneike for taking photos, also. You can view them here:

heeeeerrrrrreeeee

Yup. And with that, we're off to LA. We're moving this week into our Eagle Rock abode. I'll tell you all about it when we get there.

You're the gr8test.

Cool?

Thanks to the various people who happened to be at my house last night, we now have a new logo. Voila. Thanks Nicki, Alicia, Gordon, Evan, Tom, and dude.

This morning, ER is heading into Muse Music studio to do some recording. We're trying out a few of our new songs to see how the tapes like them. Spirits are high, we are all happy and a little nervous about the trip. New Nervous? More l8r.

Utah Arts Festival

Check out this mention in the Examiner we got. Y'all gotta come and clap your hands for us on June 26 at 10pm on the Plaza Stage. Should be jamn good.

AND THEN!!! It gets better. We're going to do the pre-game pep rally at the Orem Owlz game the next day, Saturday, June 27, at 6:00 pm. We've got to beat Idaho Falls, so come and lend your competitive aggression. $4 for a baseball game and a rock show ain't bad.

Syd Straw with ER

If your mouse is hovering over the play icon above, you're about to view one of the highlights of last weekend's Santa Ynez Days Festival at the Jones House. After a day of great performances, Syd Straw joined ER onstage for a performance of Psycho Killer. Syd was nothing short of the darling of Saturday's festival, drawing the crowd in with her humble wit and musical storytelling. Still recovering from being ill in the past weeks, I think Syd's performance captured the vibe of the whole festival: a feeling of gratitude for being a part of something really really great.

For those who don't know, Syd is kind of a big deal. She's been a back up singer for Pat Benetar, and she was in the Golden Palominos with Michael Stipe of R.E.M. and Matthew Sweet. One of those GP albums even featured Jack Bruce from the band Cream. She's released a few solo albums. Check her out at sydstraw.com.

Los Angeles update

Day 4 in Los Angeles.

ER has had the rock star experience lately.  We arrived in LA to find a promotion team already working for our shows here.  It feels good to be able to concentrate more on the music.

We've been fed, hosted, and rushed around town like we're important.  It's fun, you should try it sometime.  It won't be hard, seeing how you're already important.  We're not getting caught up in it, mostly we're just having a good time and trying to pull off some really great shows.  We practiced yesterday in a West LA rehearsal studio.

We have also found a new home.  ER will live out the summer in Eagle Rock, somewhere in eastern LA.  We'll be nestled in the hills, between all those colorful Eagle Rock houses.  There's a cool backyard with a hill for us to play around on.

Here's how we've been relaxing lately: swimming late at night, wandering in a search for donuts, learning how to kiss better, and watching concerts on Palladia.

After tonight, next show is Old Santa Ynez Days.  Come; the lineup looks good this year.

Live Through us Vicariously

You now have permission to live vicariously through us. No longer will you have to struggle through your own existence, tossed to and fro by life's follies. Now you can just give up and exist through us! We're living the dream, moving to California, moving in together, getting a manager, and in short, becoming a real band. And if you're reading this, you're a part of it. You were here when we left, when it was too good to fizzle out like most local bands, when we decided and received almost unanimous agreement, that the good vibes we were creating were worth trying to bring to the next level.

I will write you a haiku:

in dark night
Elizabethan Report
steals away

Another:

after a song
we look at each other
and play once more

Another:

in the van
the wind tosses our hair
and we drive faster

I'm on a roll. It turns out that in english, you don't have to adhere to the 5-7-5 syllable format, that's just in Japanese. In english you approximate the brevity of it. If you want to try writing your own haiku poetry, but you're afraid you'll look foolish, click it and then reflect on how foolish my haikus have been. Then post your haikus in the comments!

One more:

when we kiss
I think of Sarah
and we stop
