Our songs contain words. Every so often, people ask “What’s that you sayin’ in your songs?” These questions are usually met with awkward silence. Well, the silence ends now. Every so often, we’ll be posting lyrics to the blog, and we’re kicking it off with lyrics for “Soy Sauce Sailor” from the Self Made Beast album which can be found on
iTunes and our
Online Store.

I’m a soy sauce sailor
she makes me feel savory
like a semi-spiced spine
She’s a cold war clipper captain
she keeps her own company
keeps her key locked in a copper cabinet
She’s something like a girl
She’s something like a girl
She’s a white wine widow
I feel like I’m...
She makes me feel alone
She makes me feel alone
I try to be different person
dress like original oregano gangster
but still she won’t look at me
I try to force my way to her cabinet
she grinds my face into the floorboards as I realize
her heart’s never been closer to me
She’s something like a girl
She’s something like a girl
She’s a white wine widow
I feel like I’m...
Fodder under her feet
Fodder under her feet
And the bones between her toes
And the bones between her toes
She makes me feel alone
She makes me feel alone
She makes me feel alone
She makes me feel alone
I’m a soy sauce sailor
she makes me feel savory
like a semi-spiced spine
She’s something like a girl
She’s something like a girl
She’s something like a girl
